ARITZIA SPRING '10Come by the store and check out all the new stuff we've received! I am seriously scared for my income status, fully knowing that the new items can be cause of serious harm to my bank account. The last week or two, Aritzia has been clearing out their sale merchandise and making room for all the new stuff for the season! Come check it out. We know
Vera Wang and
Rachel Bilson both have.

It's true! While I was working at Vancouver's Robson Street location, I was talking with a customer at how the woman at the front of the store had to be
Vera Wang, dress designer to the biggest Hollywood stars and close friend of Oprah. I approached my temporary Associate Manager and told her she was in the store. Sandy replied, "She does look like Vera Wang, doesn't she?" I said, "It's her!" We got the attention of our Merchandise Manager and we approached her. She ended up walking away with our Community parka (exact same as mine!) and a bunch of dressy Wilfred items, and TNA Canada and Parklife items in spirit of the Olymipcs. Thank you, ma'am!

Also visiting our store was
Rachel Bilson. She is in town with her Canadian-born fiance,
Hayden Christensen! I, sadly, was a few days late of her visit, but she picked up a bunch of great stuff! Hope to see you ladies do the same!

ANTI-FLAG AT THE OLYMPICSWell, not exactly.
Welcome back, friends, from our first ever CreComm Reading Week! I hope everyone received the rest they deserved. I definitely did not. My week was spent working with my head cut off, followed by partying down the streets of Robson and Granville in downtown Vancouver. Man, I miss it already.
Following up with some Olympic related news, CTV published an article yesterday regarding the cease of a CBC Canadian flag giveaway. The full article can be viewed here, at
www.ctvolympics.ca. Basically, CBC was giving away free Canadian flags to passers-by. Harmless, right? Wrong. The problem was CBC's distinctive corporate logo appeared on the back of the flags. The CBC building location neighbours Canada Hockey Place, in which it is verboten to brandish a corporate logo.
I guess attendees just wanted to avoid paying the $4.00 for a Canadian flag? Which is exactly what I paid on Cypress Mountain. Boo.

VANCOUVER IS "HOME" FOR THE 2010 OLYMPICS- As it is for me! Well, home for the next week anyway. I just wanted to bid a quick goodbye before heading off for my excitedly awaited Reading Week! Thank you very much for that, RRC and RRCSA! I'll be heading to Vancouver to work for Aritzia on Robson and watching some Olympic snowboarding! Thank you, Mr. President!
Before I finally jet off, did you know that not only did Aritzia make the award presenters their uniforms, they designed the ribbons that actually carry the medals? Yes, the gold, silver and bronze Olympic medals are brilliantly displayed on winning athlete's necks with the help of an Aritzia designed ribbon? Pretty cool! The design is inspired by a sea-to-sky type of colour pallette. Here's a few of early Olympic winners wearing their medals - and Aritzia!

Take care guys, and enjoy your breaks! We all deserve them :)

FOREVER TREND: ARMY JACKETS
All I've seen lately, in the past few years, is the return of army and military. Well as you predicted, it's back again for spring! It appears that this turn around, however, is more of a long layering look rather than the fitted and shorter military jackets you saw last year. I, personally, love the army green and tan - what do you guys think?

FASHION INSPIRATION: JERSEY SHORE? Yes, as shocking as it may be, your favorite MTV "guidos" and "guidettes" are beginning trends in fashion. With a lot of dedication the show, fans are imitating the iced and gel heavy hair, the barely-there booty shorts, the True Religion jeans and the Ed Hardy t-shirts (which, btw, I thought both were over with?).
I guess with life today evolving and changing so quickly, if you are capable of grabbing attention, you must take this as an opportunity to express yourself and your influence? Sure, personally I don't agree with the style of
Jersey Shore, as much as I am oddly drawn to the television series - but if you're getting noticed, why not be noticed for acting and dressing as yourself. This is definitely better than projecting a fake image (gag). Take Jenni (JWOWW) Farley, for example, who is using her new found fame to launch her own clothing line. Jiminy cricket. Still though, "big ups" to the Jersey Shore crew, best of luck on your future endeavours hehe.

As a last snippet, come visit your local
Aritzia! Today has marked the beginning of our
Snooze You Lose event! This is your opportunity to grab last minute winter merchandise, snag those carry over pieces for the spring, and take a look at the new items we'll be receiving for the season! Hope to see you find ladies and gents there!
